Projects and Prospects

For the past ten days I have mostly been brooding watching the snow, making snowmen and shooting evil stares to our walls’ colors. Days are passing by and I wonder whether spring will come and pass before I apply any of the changes I plan to get going.

It wasn’t all daydreaming though. I cleaned – half – the basement. Which is major! Imagine piles of sawdust, cement and a gazillion screws. Imagine tools all around, on tables, on the floor and hang from screws exactly where I pass under so I have to duck every time. Dream (the nightmare kind) of piles of accumulated dirt. Picture numerous pieces of wood and floorboards – leftovers from my husband’s projects. On the floor, on the tables, covering the area I have assigned for my crafts. Oh, and ALL my craft supplies covered in heavy dust.

I saw, I frowned, I cleaned. And I have a tidy place to create now.

Aaaaalmost here…

In other news:

– My toolbox-spice caddy… has been featured! Very happy about that!

– Potty training The Cute is not nearly as successful. In fact, it has been a massive failure so far. The Cute goes straight to her potty, after she wets the floor. Every. Single. Time. She is lucky she is so cute, orelse.

Reading goes much better, probably because I don’t have to do a thing except to oblige her when she brings me books to read (all the time). She is into pronouncing the alphabet letters now and she finds great fun into discovering letters she knows in each page.

Easter is approaching and this year we plan on taking The Cute on her first ever egg-hunt. A western Mass town is throwing their annual EGGstravaganza at a beautiful local park. We bought a basket and several plastic eggs. Her daddy is assigned with the task to prep The Cute on egg-hunting because, I do not plan on throwing my precious daughter unprepared among other blood egg-thirsty tots, who are already experienced in the task of helping the Easter Bunny. No, sir. We shall enter the battlefield ready to get at least one egg in our basket (and keep it there – The Cute prefers to hide the eggs instead of finding them). Hopefully, it will all work out peacefully, without any tantrums.

Meanwhile, I took a few photos of The Cute’s nursery, now toddler room. Here is a sneak peak:

I will share our nursery soon. It is a tribute to pink, a color I was adamant on avoiding. This room was to be a soft cream. Massive fail on picking the color and it’s not that I didn’t try. I’ll whine more about that in the next post.

Update: well that didn’t take long. You are invited to tour our nursery!

Thank you very much Nicole! I loved your blog too, last night I was telling to my husband about your brilliant trick to use transparent cups for seedlings. It’s so clever.

Love the color of her room and you are right the picture does not do it justice. Keep on the toilet training, it will happen soon. She has the idea, just needs to switch. Congrats on the Feature. 🙂 As for the basement, that is a never ending battle.

Yay! Congrats on your feature! Very exciting. 🙂

Ugh. Basement cleaning. I really need to do that…it is so bad. But, that is awesome that you got a lot of cleaning and will soon have a place for projects and crafts. Mommy needs her creativity time, too. 😉

I like how the nursery is coming along. That shade of pink on the walls looks very lovely and soothing. How old is Cute?

Good luck with the Easter egg hunt. lol

She is 21 – exhausting and glorious -months old.
The color didn’t come out right in my photo. Looks cold (blue undertone) while it is way more salmon like (warm). I find it lovely too – for a pink. Thank you for trying to cheer me up.

Thank you for the good luck wishing, too – we’ll probably need it. XD

On a side note…Shouldn’t there be a law that husbands should clean the basements (monthly or at least once per season)? Just saying. <_<

On my monitor the pink all do indeed look very lovely. I like it. 🙂

About basements, well I am the one who is cleaning it. Last summer, I cleaned the concrete and painted the floors to brighten it up. However, is stuff everywhere. H helps me with some of it, but he knows it needs organizing and I am usually the one who does that. But, whenever we can finish the basement, he is actually the one who will be doing a lot of work. He knows how to install the wall frames and do electrical. Until then, I need to get rid of some bugs in the basement. Yeah, H can do that. lol 😉

See? Why should we clean that area? I tried to explain to my husband that It has alien species of bugs and dragons and it’s like a dungeon => therefore it takes a man to clean it.
Hubby is not buying my story so far…
