"Welcome Summer" party at an old farmhouse - by TwoPlusCute

A “Welcome Summer” party? What a cool idea!

Last week, a friendly couple threw a “Welcome Summer” gathering for their friends and co-workers. As they have two children and understand the effort to keep the little ones occupied and happy, they had packed their yard with activities, toys and games.

They had some super frugal and very clever ideas for DIY games and activities. Some of them are so simple, I kept going “duh!” at every turn. Not to mention I loved photographing their beautiful house.

The owners are a young couple who saw potential in this old house.

A lot of love and work have already been invested in their home

as they are slowly renovating it.

Pretty 🙂

The house comes with a lot of land around it

and they even have a – HUGE – real, old barn right behind the house.

By “real”, I mean actual places for the livestock and even a place for the carriage (back in the day)!

I hope one day we find time to take more photos and get the story

behind all the original details of their house and how they are restoring it.

You have to see the original beams and the floors!

T and M you read this? 🙂

Part of the land surrounding the house.

The games were spread around their large yard,

(if I were a kid that would be SO cool and adventurous, having to search for all the activities)

what you don’t see clearly in the next photo is the DIY water slide – that I am totally going to make, too!

Yes, of course there is a ninja in the court!

They had the coolest idea of using simple sticks, cardboard and markers

to post signs at every game.

Several – stuffed – animals were roaming the gardens, waiting for kids to find them.

Another view of the old barn:

The barn in the woods.

But the most important element in a party is this:

good company.

Right Bruce?

That looks like a fabulous party, what a lot of effort the hosts went to, to keep their guests entertained. And the simple ideas are often the best, aren’t they? xx

This is so awesome and such a wonderful idea! I love all the land they have. Dream!

On a side note, I love the fact that you blurred out the kids faces on one of your images. I am all for protecting kids identity on the internet. I know people who could care less and would post pictures of other people’s children without their permission. Minors have rights too. Sadly, a lot of people it seems have no respect for this.

They were very creative with their games. 🙂

Unless I have explicit permission, I prefer to protect the little ones (and the adults alike for that matter).
ps. the last photo was with permission. I hope Bruce likes it, he looks great.
