A “Welcome Summer” party? What a cool idea!
Last week, a friendly couple threw a “Welcome Summer” gathering for their friends and co-workers. As they have two children and understand the effort to keep the little ones occupied and happy, they had packed their yard with activities, toys and games.
They had some super frugal and very clever ideas for DIY games and activities. Some of them are so simple, I kept going “duh!” at every turn. Not to mention I loved photographing their beautiful house.
The owners are a young couple who saw potential in this old house.
A lot of love and work have already been invested in their home
as they are slowly renovating it.
The house comes with a lot of land around it
and they even have a – HUGE – real, old barn right behind the house.
By “real”, I mean actual places for the livestock and even a place for the carriage (back in the day)!
I hope one day we find time to take more photos and get the story
behind all the original details of their house and how they are restoring it.
You have to see the original beams and the floors!
T and M you read this? 🙂
The games were spread around their large yard,
(if I were a kid that would be SO cool and adventurous, having to search for all the activities)
what you don’t see clearly in the next photo is the DIY water slide – that I am totally going to make, too!
They had the coolest idea of using simple sticks, cardboard and markers
to post signs at every game.

But the most important element in a party is this:
ps. These are the friends with the white kitchen that I mentioned in our Kitchen Renovation part 2.
ps 2. Everybody had fireworks fun? 😀
