Goodwill Score

This was my second trip to Goodwill. I have been there once before and I got a book haul. This time though, I was a gal with a purpose: to find cute stuff I could use to dress our home and to use in photos for this blog.

That was the plan anyway because, this time, I found stuff I was actually thrilled about. Stuff I wanted to take home, bath in chlorine and call them mine. My $45 loot includes:

An antique looking coffee table for $15, made out of solid maple (even the hidden underside). There was no plywood or lesser materials on it. I wonder if it is an actual vintage piece – it does look like it, to my untrained eyes.

Also gave home to: several baskets (from hidden wired frames, to leather handles and more) and four frames (one, with handpainted sea shells). A globe for $5 (ok a tad expensive but I really, really wanted a globe like this). A set of 4 hand-carved wooden bowls. A super cute duck, a hand-painted candle-holder. And a surprise craft supply for $1.

I couldn’t wait to take some photos of my loot:

Half the loot posing proudly, before getting bathed in chlorine.

It was hard to resist buying this handpainted little candle holder because The Cute is very interested in “tars” (stars) and “mun” (moon) and she kept pointing at it excitedly. Plus, something about the colors of the melted wax, agreed with me and I don’t plan on cleaning it (except maybe the base).

Not to mention, it is predominantly blue and well, blue is simply gorgeous.

I like round objects and even more, earth globes.

Especially when they come with dragons:

This adorable and sizable duck,

had some battered plastic flowers glued on it,

which I removed promptly:

SO cute!

Bringing the items home wasn’t easy. We don’t have a truck and even though our trunk can fit several people (really, it’s huge!) it couldn’t fit the table. We had to be inventive and – for once – by “we” I mean “I” as hubby was hating the table so much, he’d be happy if we simply left it there.

adventures
I used an clean and rolled diaper as bumper so the table wouldn’t get notched (it was leaning against the metal on that spot. The diaper trick worked perfectly!

That maple table *spoke* to me. It said “buy me, I am lovely“.

Hubby says it spoke to him too and said “kill me, kill mee”.

I strongly disagree with my husband.

I am sure I need more shopping practice but, what do you think?

Did I do good(will)? 😀

I LOVE thrift shopping, barn shopping and estate sales! There’s always a great deal to be had. It’s so much fun bringing stuff home and figuring out what to do with it! You made a pretty great haul there, lady! Good Job!! That globe really makes me think about that show Game of Thrones!! How’s Greece? I miss seeing you at the parties! Big Hugs!!

      Thanks Bren!
I can’t decide whether to leave it in all it’s “looking old” glory or stencil it.
